Come down to the northern end of the Detroit River this weekend for the 100th anniversary of premier hydroplane racing in Detroit. The UAW-GM Sponsored Gold Cup “Hydrofest” runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – August 26-28.
FREE Friday today includes free admission to the grandstands and the cold pits during practice runs starting at 1pm.
On Saturday and Sunday the UAW-GM’s sponsorship has ensured that all general admission parks will remain free at Erma Henderson Park, Memorial Annex Park and Owen Park. Or, you may purchase tickets for the Grandstands and other VIP areas (below for details & links).
There are several vintage race boats on display and will be on the water in between races Saturday & Sunday. The owners are very talkative and love to show off these beautiful boats…. we were able to sit inside the cockpit of Miss US from 1957! 
And, something fun to do in between races, there will also be a CAR SHOW at Waterworks Park on Saturday & Sunday.
