Difference between Major League Fishing and the Bassmasters??
For Bassmaster as example, fishermen work for a total weight of 5 bass throughout the day… then combine the weight for tournament. MLF has no limit on fish tabulated each day – and each day the fishermen start with zero weight so all are even at the start of each day with the winner or cuts being made solely on that day’s total weight.
As an example, the 2021 Lake St. Clair winner Michael Neal was on fire and won his Day 1 & 2 with 36 (121#) & 33 (102#) bass, and Day 4 with 58 (169#) bass, which was a new MLF Record! Day 3 winner Andy Morgan caught 28 (93#) of bass.
MLF is also an immediate “catch and release.” Once the fish is properly landed, an onboard marshal weighs and reports the fish caught. LIVE tallies are available all day so each fisherman knows exactly where they stand at all times. Tough on the fishermen who cannot rest with the MLF game rules, but much better for the fish to be released vs. sitting in a live well all day to be weighed at the end of the tournament.
