Tin Fish on Lake St. Clair’s Anchor Bay Torn Down Today!
I can say with utmost certainty, the Tin Fish Restaurant location “in Fair Haven on Anchor Bay” will not be open for the 2015 boating season! I confirmed with Ira Township offices in Fair Haven, that condominiums will be replacing this waterfront boating destination this summer.
The building where the Tin Fish was located has had a few names throughout the years. I’m only old enough to remember it was the Surf North, prior to it being the Tin Fish… and it was also owned by a family which renamed it Tryst during the 2012 season. Before the Surf North, I have read it was the Anchor Bay Inn and was there in the 1940’s. This piece of land with great views of Lake St. Clair has seen of lot of revelry, weddings, and special engagements.
If anyone has some interesting information or photos of the Surf North or Anchor Bay Inn, it would be great to put together a historical summary to publish so we don’t forget all the fun times we’ve had, as well as our parents and grandparents over the years on that property. Please email any information you’d like to share at lakestclairguide@yahoo.com
